Great shot! How tries have you made? What kind of flash have you used? I toke near 60 shots and I kept the 20 better ones. This photo is my favourite one. I used the in-camera flash of my D70...it is not very powerful, but for macro shots it is enough. Anyway, in this photo the main souce of light ...

The halo reduction works well(the halo has disappeared), but the image looks a bit softer than mine(see magnified crops : http://www.juzaphoto.com/npn/halo_hnf_01.jpg )...there can be various reasons : - noise filtering The original image was taken at the lowest ISO value of my D70 and it was very n...

Hi Dan,
I remove the halos "manually" with the pencil tool of Windows' Paint...a slow process, but it works ;-)

This is the not sharpened copy :

This is crop from the original, not resized, image: http://www.juzaphoto.com/npn/halo.jpg Note : in this crop I applied only sharpening, the colors are still inaccurate (the sky was slightly overexposed, instead in the final image it has its original dark tone - I forgot to say that I adjusted the br...

Hi Dan,
cool shot! 8)

My only suggestion is to apply a bit less contrast...in the second version the whites looks "hot" (too bright) and the photo loses a little of its delicate, dreamy mood.

I wonder if it would be possible for you to post another copy of the picture before you removed the sharpening halos so we can compare them in that respect. if you can, I would appreciate it. Floyd Grant Hi Floyd, thanks for the comment :-) , I'll post the other copy ...

Have you tried to use smart blur in Photoshop? It is supposed to blur background and keep focused parts intact. Dan I have only a demo version of photoshop 5 and I rarely use it (it is quite old and it does not allow to save the image). The full version is it far too expensive for me,and anyway PS ...
