Since very recently, occasional posts containing images are redacted by the host software, showing a box labelled that the contents are not available in my area. This thread is one of the current ones.

But ...
The thumbnails of the stacked images are cropped to portrait.
Landscape images on the screen during stacking and before saving ..... but the thumbnails are cropped to portrait.

Have you tried dragging the RAW files in from file management
Let Helicon do the stacking with the option to save the output files as DNG.
Saves involving DNG conversion of the input files then deleting the DNG files.

Ok I understand but it seems strange that the stacked ABC save to the nominated source folder but the newly stacked image goes to the temporary folder

For the purpose of beta testing and for the purpose of this test ..... the source folder contains only the RAF files. They were CTRL-A and dragged into 9.0.2 which was loaded directly (not LightRoom).
The save option for stacked files was a nominated (from the dialogue box) subfolder within the test ...

I'll see if I can reproduce it again tomorrow with another set and with the original set.

Does the RAW-in-DNG-out process work in the same way? When are the temporary DNG files prepared in Lightroom deleted after they have been used in Helicon for stacking. Are they temporarily held in RAM? Or written to a scratch file? Where? I have numerous disk drives.

I don't currently see another way to change it, we'll discuss it with the developers. But it's not the last method in the list, it's the last one you clicked when selecting. Click A, then B, then C - you get C. Click A-C-B - you get B, etc.

Work around is easy
Do your stacks
Select the method ...

Having used this new facility I can say how useful it is.
But ..... does your last comment mean that you cannot change the parameters? Or method? Previously I've tended to stick with method C for my stacking of the previous stacks because I work A then B then C so C would be left in place as the ...

Why not relabel them in your folder?
Make a copy of the folder.
Rename them 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Then import them into HF
