Did you uninstall the Canon app? Why should I, if it's not running or stopped? That's like saying I can only drive down the street if everyone else has their car towed away first.
Ok I uninstalled anything to do with Canon or Nikon or cameras.
Reset camera wifi again.
Used auto select of the Canon ...

Re: Setting Canon 80D, wireless Android
No go.
I've cleared the camera wifi settings to defaults.
Camera is set to communicate with smartphone
camera and phone do connect, with encryption key
HF sees a Canon for auto connect
but HF says the camera refused the connection.
No idea what to try next.

Setting Canon 80D, wireless Android
I select
"Canon camera connected automatically...."
But it doesn't connect.
"Check that the appropriate Network Profile is selected (Tools ->Network cameras -> Nikon profiles)"
does it think it's a Nikon?
I tried "Add "
Then HR asks for a Name and Address.
Would that be "SET1" (the default)

Re: Canon EOS 80D
I've tried setting the time down to 50ms.
It just takes too long to get from one end of the focus range (this is manually) to the other.
I haven't found a way to make HR usable, from a laptop (i7 Win7).
It's a breeze with Canon software.

Wireless connection to laptop?
SHOULD I be able to connect wirelessly to a Canon 80D & operate HR?
I think the manual is telling me I can if I use a wifi hotspot (ie a phone) as well.
Is that making sense?
I spend so long trying to get thing which should work, working, that I don't want to spend hours trying something that ...

Re: Canon EOS 80D
If you need finer steps, switch the step size to small (Helicon Remote menu -> File -> Preferences -> Canon -> Focusing step size).
It's already "small", but the steps are too big, set to "1".
What determines the size of the smallest step? This is with a Canon STM lens, if that makes any ...

Re: Canon EOS 80D
So I'm reinstalling EOS Utility which will stop HR working, I expect.
- it did, in that it seems impossible to stop EOS Utilities starting when the camera is turned on. Even if it's closed, then HR started, HR won't connect properly. The camera Device window which opens in Win 7 is set to "Do ...

Re: Canon EOS 80D
Have downloaded new version Version 3.7.1 W
Wouldn't run with 80D. (Haven't tried 700D with this version)
Then uninstalled all previous versions of EOS Utility (about 3), (which I wasn't using anyway having uninstalled the latest earlier) then the links,
then HR would run with 80D (Win 7).
BUT it ...

Re: Can't control focus with Canon 70D
Sorry if this is obvious/wrong but
Have you Disabled "Continuous AF" in camera menu?
If not the behaviour is rather like you describe.

Re: Canon EOS 80D
I think it started to work once but can't get it going again.
It would help if there were adequate instructions - there aren't. EOS Utility always starts for me. Is that right? Turning it off doesn't make HR work. I don't know what I should be seeing.

EOS Utility works on both, by the way - same laptop, lead, etc. I see it fires up Ver 2 for the 700d and Ver3 for the 80d.

Re: Canon EOS 80D
OK.
Am trying an 80D and a 700D, and getting the same symptoms.
Software says live view is switched off, then it times out.
