Re: general question about how to use HR effectively
I wish it were possible to determine, by experiment, some reliable way to convert HR's "step size" and shot count to the equivalent values for Nikon "focus shift shooting".

general question about how to use HR effectively
I'm using HR with a Nikon Z8. Interface and control seem to work well; but using HR to actually take the photos is very slow, a couple of seconds per shot. For a deep stack (100 shots), it just takes too long. But it occurs to me that I could use HR just to set up the stack, by choosing near and far ...

Connection to Nikon Z6 has stopped working
Yesterday, in the middle of a project, I started to get "camera not connected" while using USB. I then tried both wifi AP and network modes, with no success. Went back to direct USB and now HR recognizes the camera, and seems to connect, but I can't do anything, most of the interface is disabled. I ...

Re: Nikon Z6 over wifi?
Please send a bug report (menu - Help - Report a bug) when the camera is connected (i. e. when your computer is connected to the camera's access point). There is nothing that should be reset in Helicon Remote as you suggested. Once we see the report, we should be able to see what's wrong. Ok ...

Re: Nikon Z6 over wifi?
It worked well - until one day, it didn't. Today, HR stopped seeing the Z6. Just like that. I haven't changed anything, I swear. I tried everything, just like always - Z6 "connect to smart device", the PC sees the Nikon access point, wi-fi connects, the camera says it's connected, I can ping it from ...

Re: Nikon Z6 over wifi?
Based on some posts I saw elsewhere, I think infrastructure mode ("Connect to PC") may require use of a Nikon utility on the PC side to validate the connection with a code provided by the camera. I guess the camera would then be accessible only to the validated PC. But I haven't tried this. While ...

Re: Nikon Z6 over wifi?
Sorry for the delayed reply - to try this, I had to actually add a wifi adapter to the PC I'm using with the camera. Having done that, I've gotten the connection to work, and HR can now control the camera over wifi. So thanks for the suggestion. Here's some information that might help other Nikon ...

Re: Nikon Z6 over wifi?
Are you connecting through your existing Wi-Fi network rather than directly to the camera? Yes, or trying to. I enable wifi on the camera via "Connect to PC", it connects to my network. In the router's administration pages, I see the camera as a client with an IP. I open HR, and "add" the camera by ...

Re: Nikon Z6 over wifi?
I'm bumping this because I'd really like to be able to remotely control the camera over wifi. A USB connection works, but it's too difficult for me to have a cable in my setup. I've reset the network settings on the camera, re-added it to Helicon Remote. No other camera-related software is running ...

Nikon Z6 over wifi?
I'd like to control my Nikon Z6 wirelessly but haven't had any luck. The Z6 can connect to my wifi network - I see it in the router's admin pages, it's getting an IP address. Helicon Remote finds it as a Network Camera, but then says "the camera refused to connect" and tells me to clear all my wifi ...

Re: Helicon remote on Chromebok
[bump]
This would be so great, if it were possible.
Anyone have any recent news on this?

Re: Nikon Z50 "not detected"
Sorry to report that I could not find any reliably repeatable sequence. Sometimes I get the "Allow Helicon Focus to access the camera" prompt. Sometimes, after that, if I bring up HR I'll get the vibrating alert telling me I have a Notification. Sometimes, if I click that Notification, HR will ...

Re: Nikon Z50 "not detected"
Tapping the notification isn't too bad as a workaround, but I ran out of time on that shoot and had to find an alternative to the app. I'll try this next time and will post the results.

Re: Nikon Z50 "not detected"
Thanks Catherine. I tried again today - cable is good (tried a couple), no other apps running. The phone obviously detects the camera, because sometimes it asks if I want to allow Helicon Focus to access a Z50. But nothing happens, the app still says "not connected". Tried several variations of app ...

Nikon Z50 "not detected"
Samsung S8, Nikon Z50, USB. After a frustrating half-hour during which the camera was detected exactly once, I gave up. But I still wish I could use this app in the future. No other apps running, tried starting app first, tried starting camera first, tried plugging/unplugging - you name it, I tried ...
