30 seconds definitely sounds like a lot of time, 6 seconds is normal and what you should expect. The exact time depends on how many focus steps there are between shots. Send a bug report when you see that it's shooting too slowly: menu - Feedback - Report a bug.

Hi, it's impossible for the software to detect focus adjustments made outside of the software. You can select the first focus position by any means convenient to you, but then you must use the focus stepping buttons in Helicon Remote to select the other point (<<<, <<, < / >, >>, >>> buttons).
