If you get the dragonfly all sharp with only three photos in the stack, you have achieved the purpose. For small apperture and some distance, this might be fine. I step 60 for my 300 PF at f8. Smaller number gives less focus change and more photos in the stack, the opposite of what you say. For my M...

Did you ever get some sort of response to this? There are probably an increasing number of users out there that have or will face the same problem. Helecon should really come up with a new cable.

Nikon 300mm PF

Is there anyone out there that has any experince with FB Tube on Nikon PF lenses. I'm not able to get this lense to focus. Could there be any firmware upgrades to support this relatively new lens architecture?

I was not familiar with the D5100, but eventually found the AF manual setting in a menu (my d7200 has a switch for this). That solved the issue, everything works fine.

I'm strugling to get my FB Tube to work with Nikon D5100. On my D7200 where I use AF-ON focus technique, i.e. not focus assigned to release button and it works perfectly well.
