Re: Hardware acceleration failing
Hi Catherine,
two screen shots with hardware acceleration turned off:
Do you want me to redo with acceleration turned on?
Thanks,
Phil

Re: Hardware acceleration failing
Hi Catherine,
Yes, this is on the same machine. I can try running the file on my laptop if you want.
Is this the info you want?
Thanks,
Phil

Hardware acceleration failing
Hi again, Catherine, I am trying to composite two images, one with 32 images, the other with 116. Each file is 907 MB. Hardware acceleration would be attactrive. When I render without Apple M2 Ultra, the compositing works fine. When I change to using Apple M2 Ultra, close and restart HF, and render,...

Re: Speeding up Helicon Focus on a Mac
Good news, Catherine! I uploaded the family photos that failed on my desktop onto my laptop. They worked fine in Bridge, Photoshop, and HeliconFocus. I upgraded Capture One to the latest version on my desktop, and tried reloading the files, and exporting them to a different folder. They opened fine!...

Re: Speeding up Helicon Focus on a Mac
Good morning, Catherine, Some good news and bad news. Good news -- I downloaded and installed version 8.2.11. The hardware acceleration option worked! Medium news -- the 76-image test took 26 seconds, compared to 106 seconds with the old computer and no acceleration or parallel image reading. Bad ne...

Re: Speeding up Helicon Focus on a Mac
Hi Catherine,
Auto~=Enabled makes sense.
I am using 8.2.6 and HF thinks I am up-to-date.
I still don't have any ideas why I can't get Open CL to work. I am getting the same errors today as I did back in 2023. Got any ideas?
Thanks,
Phil

Re: Speeding up Helicon Focus on a Mac
Hi Catherine, Happy New Year. I upgraded to an M2 Ultra Mac with 8TB of SSD internal memory. Storage is no longer a problem for a year's photographs. A 1:46 rendering of 76 454MB tif images took 1:01 with the new hardware with no additional acceleration. A good improvement, but not life-altering. :-...

Re: Speeding up Helicon Focus on a Mac
Catherine,
Thank you for the hardware thoughts. More importantly, thank you for giving me a solution to speed problems that I could immediately implement—I put the tiffs on the SSD, and Helicon Focus was very fast!
Thanks,
Phil

Re: Speeding up Helicon Focus on a Mac
Helicon Focus 8.2.6
I don't know how to enable hardware acceleration. How do I do that?
Since a couple of days ago, the files went from an SSD to an external drive. I ran out of space. I'll put them back on the SSD. Good idea!
How do I enable parallel loading?
Thanks,
Phil

Re: Blurring around complex shapes
Thanks, shutterbug, I'll try that if I have the patience for the multiple experiments. As I was writing this note, my camera was making 76 images; each will be 907MB. Helicon Focus experiments take a long time. I am exploring getting a faster machine.
