Re: Focus Stacking

Choosing 'Leave on camera' under the Preferences/Image saving option will leave everything on your SD card.

Re: StackShot3x Support

I can use both successfully. It turns out that to get it to work you need to do things in order. Set the camera to remote trigger Then plug camera into computer Run Helicon Remote, set the destination folder Watching Live view in Remote I adjust the start and end points on Stackshot3 and also check ...

Re: d7200 and video

This was on a MacBook Air. Once I figured out how to start the recording from the Tools bar, it went very smoothly.

Re: d7200 and video

I just gave it a try, and had no problem, though it insisted on saving on the SD card, rather than to the computer.

Re: Helicon Remote + Stackshot Rotary Table

I would be very interested in this and to extend the control to 2 axes of rotation, so I would need to control at least two stepper motors and the camera. I would like to use the combination to created focus-stacked files to use in Agisoft's 3D rendering software. Without the computer controlling th...

Re: Some slices rotated

As a follow up. As Stas suggested, turning off the Orientation Sensor worked. The reason it was happening is that when the camera is pointing straight down for copy stand work, the sensor gets disoriented.

Apparently fairly common, but the first I have seen. It took 30 minutes for it to stop moving, then I was able to get a 9 slice stack.

seeing just one slice focussed content

If I understand the process, each slice is analyzed and the 'in-focus' content is stored. Is it possible to see this information for each slice without the final composite all-focussed picture?

Re: Memory problems

It is still happening. I will talk to people at my local club for advice. On a related note: I plan to add an external drive, but only have two USB ports. Do the USB cables for the camera and the Stackshot rail system have to be directly plugged into the computer, or can I use a powered multiport hu...

This was illuminated with long wave UV. The stack was 25 slices, shot at f4, 1 second exposure using a Nikon D7200 and a 105 mm Macro lens on a copy stand. The stack was processed using method C.

You can see why, once something is caught, it is so hard to escape!

Re: Memory problems

Sorry, yes. The hard drive ran out of space. I notice that about half of the used space was listed as 'Photos' and most of the rest as as 'Other'. This is on a Macbook.
If I turn if off and back on, the 'Other' component has disappeared.

Memory problems

Do other users have problems running out of memory? I use a laptop with 120GB RAM to run Helicon Remote but run out of storage after shooting just a few stacks.
