"Cache folder could not be created"

Post by RCinNJ »

Hello, I'm trying to install HeliconFocus on a new M1 MacBook Pro running MacOS 12.0.1 Monterey. I'm not sure if my problem is related to the new OS or something else.

I have seen running the program without issue on my older 2015 MacBook Pro running MacOS 11.6 Big Sur.

On my new computer I've tried downloading and opening both v7 and the v8 Beta. I get the message shown in the screen shot saying "The cache folder couldn't to be created...."

I can see where this file is located on my old computer but I'm not sure if there is a permissions issue with the new Mac OS.

What should I do?

Thank you.

We don't know exactly what causes this problem, it's definitely not the macOS version per se, and it doesn't happen on any of our Macs. But the solution is simple - just do what the message itself suggests: press the [...] ("browse") button to the left of the cache folder preference, create a folder (e. g. inside Documents, or whatever other location you like) and select this new empty folder.
