Process stacks from the top down or bottom up?

Does it make a difference whether you process the stack from the top down or bottom up?

I was advised to break a stack containing a large number of layers into smaller groups of 4-8 layers and process them separately and then process those composites into the final composite. Does anyone think this makes a difference?

Steve,

The size of objects changes when you move camera so I would advise to put the nearest image first in the stack.

I do not think there any sense to split stacks. At least theoretically.
