My iPad can read and download photos when connected to the D500 vis a USB cable with Lightening/USB adapter, Helicon Remote does not work. The message "Camera is not connected" is displayed.
How can I use Helicon Remote with the Nikon D500?
Thanks
Bob

USB connection is not possible on iOS because of Apple's policies, and that's why you won't find D500 in the list of supported cameras. However, now Nikon has released the new firmware with which you no longer need Snapbridge in order to access Wi-Fi. I don't know yet whether or not you can already use Helicon Remote with D500 after installing the new firmware, it would be great if you tried it and let us know if it doesn't work so we can work on the problem and update the app.

Thanks Catherin. With you help I bought an Android tablet and use USB. Works fine. Now I need to work an the adjustment factor for the number of steps. Using 1 with a D500 and Nikon 60mm Macro lens is not fine enough. I will try using the DOF calculator but may also just use .5 to get smaller steps. I appreciate your help.

Not it does not work - I just purchased full pro pack Pro after I saw D500 on list but only after realised its not on the IOS part of the list.

This is with latest firmware.

Nikon D500 with firmware 1.2 will work. We haven't yet added it to the list on our website because we want enough people to try it and confirm that it does work indeed, but at this point I have very little doubt about it.

Please tap "Select a camera", then the (?) button and follow the instructions for Nikon cameras with built-in Wi-Fi.

I really hope I'm wrong then! :)

I have got as far as seeing "Nikon camera (detected automatically)" in the Select a Camera menu but keep getting an error message when trying to connect (and this is after being connect to D500 wifi....

Forget all that - I have been sitting typing and it came alive rather than crashing this time it the busy circle kept spinning and spinning but then it suddenly appeared on my phone next to me. Lasted about 5 seconds and then lost wifi connection but the camera battery just went flat at the same time after all this lol

Will report back when try again, fingers crossed! :D

I hope my reply has not been lost- but it started working half way though typing.

Seems to eventually connect after perhaps 3-4 minutes... but then whilst it appeared to work I took one pic and pretty much freezes saying its working but not responding.

I have left it and will return later but I assume it should not be this slow to do anything? I was able to adjust focus points fairly well but then tried to take a pic and it was game over again - at least it looks like it might work

On what planet is this supported?

4 Devices and not one does any better than connect after about 2 minutes.

Then forget it once you take a picture. Game over. Got a time out message after 1m30 asking if I wanted to keep waiting. And 10 min later still nothing. 0/1 stop shooting shown but that’s not responding either.

I see, sorry it didn't work as expected. What were those 4 devices? Are they all running iOS?

All iOS

It’s really slow to work but light at the end of the tunnel.

It will sometimes eventually connect after a few minutes (it camera does not time out first waiting for Wi-Fi connection)

app seems slow to respond to focus adjustments but does work. However as soon as you try to take a pic or use fast preview it hangs indefinitely

Tried not copying/moving pictures to device though and as long as I don’t try the preview button I think it too a stack so will get back to pc to read the card and see. Potential yet!

Since you've mentioned a PC, would it be possible for you to try the Wi-Fi functionality with Helicon Remote there? Should be straightforward if it's a Mac or Windows laptop, or if it's a desktop computer with Wi-Fi adapter.
