Canon EOS 90D

Post by Dresli »

As a Jewelry photographer I am using helicon software for many years.
The new Canon 90D would be a perfect camera for my needs, but it does not show on the list of supported cameras.
Is it possible to use the Canon EOS 90D with helicon remote?

Yes, we will add support of this camera body in the upcoming update that should be released within the next few days.

Hi, any update regarding the new Canon 90D?
I'm having an offer to buy this model now and need to know if it will be supported.

The 90D is supported, but helicon remote does not support the CR3 raw files from this camera.
For shooting RAW files open preferences - image saving - and check for "leave in camera".
I hope this problem will be solved soon.

That's an oversight on our part, sorry. But can you please describe exactly what doesn't work when raw is selected and image saving mode is other than "Leave in the camera"? Is it just that the image is saved with wrong file extension (that will be fixed in the next update), or are there more serious problems as well?

When "move to computer" is selected in "image saving", CR3 RAW files appear with the extension DAT.
When "leave in camera" is selected, the same file is saved correctly as a CR3 image file on the cameras memory card.
I can not see any other problems with the program.
Shooting JPEGs works perfectly, but does not give the desired image quality.
When shooting 200 images for a jewellery catalog, I have to do a lot of time consuming extra work with moving images from the memory card to the computer.
