There are plenty of technical challenges related to support of Sony cameras. Lack of remote control documentation available for Sony cameras for software developers, especially when it comes to newly released ones, makes it tough and time-consuming to support new camera bodies - everything has to be reverse-engineered through trial and error. Every new Sony camera body brings new changes and challenges. This camera has just been recently released, so we can't say for sure at the moment if we can work it out and when, we will need time to investigate it further.

Hi! if you already have the A1 and 10 minutes of time, please install the latest beta version of Helicon Remote and give it a try. When something doesn't work, and we expect that it will not work right away, please send a bug report (menu - Help - Report a bug on Windows / Mac, or menu - Feedback - Report a bug on Android).

Thanks Catherine for the update!
I just tried it without success and created an error report.

After the first trigger, the Helicon-Focus recognizes the camera, lifeview becomes atkitv. The camera can be resolved with the helicon Focus Remote - but no settings can be transmitted to the camera.

I hope that one day there will be a solution for Sony Camera.

The iOS app is out of beta now, so simply download it from App Store.
There is only preliminary support for A1, but last time we checked all the primary functions were working. If you give it a try and notice something wrong, send a bug report (menu - Feedback). Note that only USB connection works with Sony, no Wi-Fi.

By the end of this week I should have an Alpha 1. And I'm planning to give Helicon Remote a try. I used it for years with my Nikon cameras, both in the field from a tablet and from the desktop, so I'm familiar with the software.

Can the folks that are currently using Helicon Remote (or the folks making it available) give me an idea where development is at this point and how functional the software is?

I'll download the Beta version tonight so I have it available when I have time to play with it... Am I correct that as a tester I'll be able to see, download and install the Android version on my tablet from the Google store? Or do I have to get it on the tablet some other way?

Yes, just download it from the Play Store, but you have to join the beta testing program first in order to get the new beta version: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/co ... conRemote2

The Android version that's currently available doesn't have A1 support, but we'll update it in a couple of days. So make sure to check for updates before actually trying your new A1, especially if you have automatic app updates turned off.

Thanks Catherine... In THEORY, I've become a Tester, though I'm not sure how to tell.

I'll keep an eye on here and wait to see the update(s).

thanks.

It's been a couple weeks. Has Alpha 1 support been incorporated yet?

Has anyone had any luck with tethering an A1 to the remote program? I plug it in but it's not seeing the camera.

Hello, which operating system are you using Helicon Remote on? You need the updated beta version of the program, the one on the website doesn't have the latest improvements for A1 at the moment. The new version does detect A1 and should generally work.
