Can shutter speeds longer than 1/30 be used? I do studio shots with much longer times than that.

There is no limits for the shutter speed inside of the program. Please let us know if you meet some limitations by the program.

The drop down menu on my trial version only goes down to 1/30.

We read this value from the camera. I think it depends on camera settings like program mode or flash usage. I would suggest to switch to Manual mode and turn flash off.
