Helicon Remote 1.16beta-Canon EOS 7d-lens EF100mm1:2.8USM 1

Hi
I am having problem operating my Canon EOS 7D with a Canon Macro lens EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM in AF(autofocus) mode, together with helicon remote 1.16 beta to do focus bracketing automatic. I have a license for Helicon Focus pro x64, and run it on a pc with windows xp.
Main problem is that after having set nearest and furthest focusing point and run to take the shots, for each shot the lens is told to move a bit, which it does, but just before the shot is taken, the lens goes back to a starting position, or possibly an autofocus position resulting in that all photos have the focusing plane at the same depth. Is this a bug in the program or is it a setting in the camera I need to do?
Second the recalculation of number of shots to be taken after changing focusing steps behaves weird. If the points differ in 25 steps, whatever I change the number of steps between two consecutive shots to and recalculate number of shots, number of shots is set to 2, even if the first is set to, e.g. 5 and number of shots should be 6 I guess.
Grateful for help
