Hello,

I plan to buy Helicon tube and Canon 180 mm Macro lens ( Manual focus). I just want to make sure if Manual focus lens work with
Helicon tube.

Another question: Does Helicon remote support Manual focus lens ?

Thanks in advance

Helicon FB Tube can only work with lenses with built-in motor, so this lens will not be compatible.
As for Helicon Remote, focus bracketing will not work, but the other functionality should work fine if the camera body is supported.

The Canon 180mm Macro is an autofocus lens with an internal USM motor. It does have a manual focus over-ride switch, as do all Canon autofocus lenses. I am presuming you are asking about the L series lens, as I don't believe Canon makes the 180mm Macro in anything but the L series. It should work with the FB Tube.

Right, there seems to be no 180 mm Canon lens without a built-in motor, only L USM one. If so, it should work fine. Please double-check the specifications for your lens.

I have had no issues with the Helicon Focus Tube and the following configuration with the Canon EF 180mm F3.5L:

Canon (EOS R) -> (Canon EF-RF Adapter) -> (Helicon FB Tube) -> (Canon EF 25mm Tube) -> (Canon Extender EF x1.4 Mk III) - (Canon 180mm F3.5L) lens.

The AF on the 180mm is a bit slow and can hunt (a lens issue - not Helicon FB Tube) so I usually just wind the lens to correct focus by hand and then shoot from there.

I have attached a photo of a paper Wasp taken with this set up, 25 frames stacked in Helicon Soft.

Cheers
