amber,

Post by seemolf »

Hi,
I wanted to thank helicon for this excellent software.
Maybe the software will not survive the evaluation period now, I guess I have to earn some money with my pictures first.
This is amber 40 million years old.
Panasonic FZ5, Leitz microscope 1890, objective 4x and 12x, ocular 4x
25 pictures combined

Hope you like (and comment) it.

Great shots, Sven!

The second one has a strong halo. I will try to fix this problem in the future version of Heliocn Filter.
I will appreciate if you could send me the original images to test new algorithms.

more amber

Post by seemolf »

Just came back to this forum after a long, long time...
I thought I could add a different amber shot here:

This a shot of 4 helicon focus stacks (25 pictures each) combined by pano technique.

Not as sharp as the other insects, but there is lots of amber between the lens and the object.

Image

The insect in the front was intentionally left out of focus .

Swen,

Great image! But where is the amber? or it is that transparent?

it is all a matter of: light

Hi Dan,
your part was to write this perfect software.
My part is to solve some problems with the light. Amber can be quite nice on the one hand and very disturbing in a different situation.
I used serveral light sources (LED, halogone,...) and a dark background for the last picture, just to let the amber disappear.
You can see the setup on my homepage:

I feel you spend all your free time on the beach :)

This paragraph i like the most : )

"
Prices:
- Microscope: found in a waste container
- Amber: found on the beach
- FZ5: I had to pay for it, sniff!
