Hi, I am converting my home made stacking rail with a Trinamic controller and stepper motor I would be grateful if you could confirm if the following USB-RS232 cable cable off ebay would be compatible please?

Re: USB-RS232
I don't know how we can confirm that without trying, it sorry. We don't have this specific cable, but it looks correct.
Re: USB-RS232
Thank you I have ordered one.
Could you confirm one further thing please?
Am I right in assuming that when using a Trinamic stepper this will be connected to one USB port and the camera is connected to another USB port in order to handle the shutter operation?

That is correct.
Re: USB-RS232
Hi Stas,
One further question please, would Helicon Focus recognise just the USB / RS232 converter without it being connected to the Trinamic controller board, at present Remote is not recognising the connection of my converter / Trinamic / stepper.
Regards
Jim

Re: USB-RS232
No, it won't detect just the converter. Or, rather, it will detect it internally but not show in the user interface if it can't communicate with the end device and establish that is indeed one of the supported devices.
Re: USB-RS232
Ok it's possible then that the cheap Ebay £5 usb converter could be the problem, I will get the Farnell device and hope that solves the problem.
Thanks for the reply

Re: USB-RS232
I don't know, serial converter chips are very cheap. We also used a cheap one from China for about $3 and it worked. I still think it could be a setup/configuration issue.
Re: USB-RS232
Hi Stas,
Turned out to be the converter, I obtained the Farnell item and it worked first time.
Many thanks for your support which is appreciated.
