Canon 7D focussing issues

Post by cjblakey »

I use a Canon 7D Mk1, Sigma 105mm and a MacBook Pro (2012)

The relationship between the focus buttons on HeliconRemote and the lens’ focus point is very inconsistent. Sometimes pressing the smallest focus button results in a large change in lens focus; most of the time the button seems to have no effect on the lens’ focus point, despite a ‘click’ noise being heard from the camera. This results in enormous A-B stack sizes, because most of the steps don’t actually move the lens’ focus.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Go to the camera body autofocus settings and make sure to select the most basic single-shot mode. No servo, continuous, AI etc.

Many thanks, that seems to have solved the issue.
