How do I avoid halos?

Post by RevDavePhotography »

Help please. Still new at focus stacking. Happy with results in landscape scenarios so tried my hand at macro (Sony A7Riii + 90mm Macro lens). When I stacked my 421 images - too many I think - there is a halo around the edge of the flower. Image is attached. I used manual exposure and the lighting changed by just over 1 stop during the shooting. I used the Sony RMT remote to step the focus in manual mode - hence the high number of shots I guess. Any help or comments much appreciated.

Try increasing the radius parameter. A bit more about it here: https://www.heliconsoft.com/helicon-foc ... arameters/
421 does indeed sound like way too many, you may not even need 1/10th of that, but on its own having too many images should not cause halos.
