I found this thread from Sept 2014 & thought I would try the App "play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.tauruslabs.usbhostcheck".
My Galaxy Tab S works perfectly with Remote when tethered to my Nikon 610 but the App says "usb host not enabled"! tablet_core-hardware not found.
so it seems it not a very reliable App?

Weird. I've never heard of such a problem with it. Still, false negative (negative being the lack of USB support) is not a big problem. False positive would be.
