after saving stack (DNG or TIFF) to a location on my Mac’s hard drive and opening lightroom, I can’t find it listed in location stored. I can see it in the finder and also can retrieve it in photoshop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, I have no idea why LR doesn't see the file that, as you said, is indeed there. Doesn't sound like the problem is on our end.
