Mac M1 support
Re: Mac M1 support
Re: Mac M1 support
Same issue, no OpenCL. Performance is really bad.
Re: Mac M1 support
I was reporting this issue more than 2 months ago, the answer was, dont use the beta, and everything will work, when OS will be released. Not good.
Re: Mac M1 support
It's disappointing but right now I'm not as concerned about it as I am about the folks at HeliconSoft--they are located in Kharkiv in Ukraine which has been under artillery and rocket bombardment by the Russian invaders. I hope they are all safe and I will worry about my software update some other day.

Oh… yeah no kidding. I hope you are all safe!Alnitak wrote: ↑24.03.2022 15:21 It's disappointing but right now I'm not as concerned about it as I am about the folks at HeliconSoft--they are located in Kharkiv in Ukraine which has been under artillery and rocket bombardment by the Russian invaders. Re: Mac M1 support
Thank you very much for your genuine concern. We're all fine, but we can no longer work in our office, and most of us were forced to leave Kharkiv. We are still working the best we can, though, and will continue to improve and support our software.
As for the matter of this topic: since macOS 12.0, Apple made it so that we must update Helicon Focus each time a new macOS version is released in order for OpenCL to work. We have made the update on the same day when macOS 12.3 became available for our M1 Mac, but we have delayed releasing this version due to some more issues we want to solve and changes we want to make. We will release the new version of Helicon Focus in the next few days.
For the same reason, if you have not updated to the latest macOS, but you have the new version of Helicon Focus, OpenCL will not work - you will need an older version that corresponds to your older version of macOS. Or you can disable OpenCL temporarily.

Re: Mac M1 support
I just will take my time to stack the images - as my M1 does too.

Re: Mac M1 support
The M1 support seems to be bad as Helicon is really slow - everthing else is fast as hell ...
Re: Mac M1 support
Yeah, but the speed on a regular Mac is also pretty slow. Honestly it's not been terribly great on my high-end Nvidia GPUs on Windows either. The problem is that they are using OpenCL for the graphics, I'm sure in part to try and support more platforms/GPUs but Apple has deprecated OpenCL and on the Windows side it's really a has been as well. I'm sure if Helicon were optimized for the Nvidia GPUs it could be much faster and on the windows side if it were moved to Metal, but I don't know if there are the resources/install base for Helicon to do this (either on Windows or the MacOS side).
Re: Mac M1 support
Just got another Mac at home which is really fast with everything I am using ... except Helicon Fokus.
Really disappointing!
Are you working to use the M1 more sense full as it is at the moment?!

Re: Mac M1 support
Have you enabled OpenCL acceleration in the Helicon Focus preferences - Performance?
Re: Mac M1 support
Of course I did Catherine, without it is even slower ... but obviously Helicon is only using a small part of the possible lines of the M1?!
Benchmark is 378 !!

Re: Mac M1 support
How do you figure this?
Which M1 do you have - Pro, Max or Ultra?
Re: Mac M1 support
I have a Max one ... looks like Helicon does only use 3 lines?!
