Nikon D850, wifi, HR

Post by eugenik »

I have a Nikon D850 and a Helicon remote. My Android 11 phone can pair with both the camera and HR, but it only takes one photo when trying to stack. Then the program crashes and can no longer be controlled. I can focus, change settings but not stacking.
The Android 4.4.4 tablet will create a network via wifi, but HR does not "know" this network. Unfortunately, HR is the only one who does not recognize the camera. The tablet and the camera make the connection. Apparently there is a bug on the Helicon remote side.

Try the beta version of Helicon Remote on Android 11 (https://play.google.com/apps/testing/co ... conRemote2). The beta doesn't support Android 4, but if you want to use Helicon Remote on that device, reproduce the problem (e. g. connect the tablet to the camera's Wi-Fi), then reconnect to your regular network with Internet access and send a bug report (menu - Feedback - Report a bug).

I performed the test according to your recommendation. Result: The connection is OK, no problems. It just disconnects the network and camera automatically when not in use.
The bigger problem persists. The camera takes only one shot and then nothing happens, the program freezes, or stays idle. I sent the message directly from the HR program.
Have a nice day

We couldn't continue this forum discussion because you didn't reply to my private message asking whether or not a bug report we received was from you. I believe we have replied to the report itself.

I sent the answer in a private message. But still nothing.

Not that I don't like Helicon Remote, but for what reasons do you prefer it over the built-in image stacking the D850 has?

Sometimes, when the object is very small, a helicon is better. I have better control over my steps.

Interesting... I hadn't thought in those terms - my macro is usually things like flowers, so I've never needed a step smaller than "1" on the D850 - actually, I've never needed a step THAT small!
