M1 Max OpenCL
Re: M1 Max OpenCL
Yes, this is a macOS "feature" since 12.0 - every macOS update requires that we recompile the OpenCL code for it to work. This wasn't necessary before 12.0. This has nothing to do with Helicon Focus being an Intel app.
We're working on an update.

Re: M1 Max OpenCL
Just updated to Helicon Focus 8.2.1, running on Ventura 13.1. Now I'm getting the same error message!
Re: M1 Max OpenCL
Re-download Helicon Focus, we've just updated it with support for 13.1: https://www.heliconsoft.com/downloads/HeliconFocus.dmg

How soon until there's an update for MacOS 13.2?Catherine wrote: ↑20.12.2022 08:55 Re-download Helicon Focus, we've just updated it with support for 13.1: https://www.heliconsoft.com/downloads/HeliconFocus.dmg
Re: M1 Max OpenCL
The update for 13.2 is live on our website now (but not through auto-update yet, sorry).
Re: M1 Max OpenCL
Waiting for update to support MacOS 12.6
Re: M1 Max OpenCL
The latest version on our website supports 12.6 pretty much since the day 12.6 was released.

Re: M1 Max OpenCL
Now we are on Ventura 13.5 and it doesn't work again. Looks like you have to update ...
I am wondering why it is just Helicon having those problems with every new Apple version ... what is the reason and can't you fix that?!

Re: M1 Max OpenCL
Just seeing it's done today ... thank you.
But still have that question why you have to invest so much work!

Here's the updated version of Helicon Focus for macOS 13.5: https://www.heliconsoft.com/downloads/HeliconFocus.dmg
No, we can't fix, it's a new requirement as of macOS 13 - the OpenCL code needs to be rebuilt for every minor macOS update. Why is it required - we don't know and don't understand, that's up to Apple. The reason you don't see any problems with other software is because they either don't use OpenCL, or they do but they ship source code that is built on the fly on your computer, rather than binary code.
It's actually not a lot of work, but it's very bad that our software becomes somewhat broken with each macOS update, we would love to avoid this but don't see any way.

Re: M1 Max OpenCL
Thank you for the explanation Catherine. So for example Lightroom does not use Open CL?!
Maybe in the end they want to create any advantages for some (or own) software.
Re: M1 Max OpenCL
Having the same problem after the 12.5 system update.
Re: M1 Max OpenCL
With M1? Use the latest version of Helicon Focus: https://www.heliconsoft.com/downloads/HeliconFocus.dmg

Re: M1 Max OpenCL
Hello
I assume this is obvious, but I updated to 8.2.7 and the error is here again
I run it on a iMac M1 with Sonoma (14.0), and yes this is the beta (but the public release is imminent)
Thanks for the upcoming update that will fix this again

Re: M1 Max OpenCL
We will support 14.0 as soon as it is released to the wide public.
