Question wrt Stackshot “Distance per Revolution” advanced setting

Post by waldenk »

I‘m currently getting solid insect imagery with my system comprised of Z7 + Mity 10x + Stackshot rail + approx 7 mu steps + Helicon. I’m considering moving up to a Mity 20x, which would require low-single digit micron steps (1-5 mu most likely) for best-quality stack results. Question: Does anyone have experience/guidance wrt the Stackshot “Distance per Revolution” advanced settting? i’m currently set to the default of 1.588 mm. wondering if that should be set -down- (and by how much) to achieve consistent and reliable low-single-digit micron steps. Thanks!

I believe that setting has no physical effect, it's only responsible for the conversion between microsteps and millimeters / micrometers of movement. You should not change it unless you use a screw with different thread pitch, e. g. replace the macro rail itself.
