nikon without WTU?

Post by jimh12345 »

I want to control a Nikon over my LAN, and the supported method uses the Nikon Wireless Transmitter Utility.

I tried the Nikon WTU in the past and it was so bad, so tedious and so unreliable that I gave up.

Is there any other way to connect with a Nikon over a LAN? (Maybe with a USB-over-ethernet adapter?)

Neither of this requires or even supports the standalone wireless transmitter, that is only for old DSLRs like D800. Z6 and Z50 have built-in Wi-Fi, which is what you should use for wireless connection. Turn Wi-Fi on, connect your computer or mobile devices to the camera's Wi-Fi network, open Helicon Remote. It will detect the camera automatically.
