Hi, I could find it anywhere, neither Google nor the forum search:
is the relatively new Nikon High Efficiency Raw Format supported or do I have to convert to DNG beforehand?

Every format that's supported by the Adobe DNG converter can be opened in Helicon Focus directly, with no need to convert anything manually.
