Background "detection"

Post by shutterbug »

Hello!

I was wondering which background colour would be best in order to get a good depth-map / 3d model?
It doesn't seem to work well with brighter colours (or colours in general) as the background is put somewhere in the middle/front while the rest of the image, that is in focus, is correctly positioned.

Would it be possible to implement a sort of "background selection" tool? A way to select a colour (range) to aid with the depth-map/3d model creation?

thanks and best regards

There is no special treatment of the background and no dependency on the background being a specific color. The reason you might be having problems is if the background has texture, or if its color is so close to the main subject of your photos that it's difficult to tell them apart.

If the problem is that the background itself is broken after rendering in Helicon Focus, but the rest of the image is OK, fixing it with retouching should be relatively easy.
