Canon R7, RF 35mm f1.8 macro AF lens, Windows 11, USB connection.
All camera functions are available through Helicon Remote except for using any of the < > buttons to adjust focus. There is no response, even though the autofocus function works normally.
The same < > buttons work normally to adjust focus using the Canon EOS Utility 3, however. The camera is brand new and has never been used with Helicon software before.
AF is set to single shot, drive is set to single.
Any suggestions?
Canon R7 - Unable to step focus
Re: Canon R7 - Unable to step focus
Try resetting the camera body settings. Most likely there is some kind of intrusive autofocus function enabled (servo / tracking / AI / face detection etc.).
Re: Canon R7 - Unable to step focus
Problem solved by doing a clean install of Canon Utility 3, and a full reset of the camera's settings.
Re: Canon R7 - Unable to step focus
Great!
The Canon Utility is not used by Helicon Remote in any way, so pretty sure it was the reset that did it. Which means there is some option in the body settings that causes this behavior.
