luminosity differences and stacking

Hi,
I'm using Helicon pro (dng saving version) for some years and I have problems to stack images when the difference of luminosity between the pics is too high (20-40%)
Is there any way to correct this problem?
I've try to devellop first as dng but of course it doesn't run
the only way could be with PS but it requires many step :(

thanks for your help

Hi Stéphane,

Do you have the "Adjust brightness" checkbox ticked in Preferences - Autoadjustments?

The auto-adjustment function does the best it can, but that much variation is not ideal, to the point that we don't consider it a valid focus stack. Images in a focus stack should vary only in focal plane position, not in their exposure.

Could you explain what you mean by that?

Hi Catherine,
Thanks for your answer, I used already the auto adjustment.
But your are right, Helicon gives a stacked image (the red triangle was for me the symbol of unsuccess)

for the DNG direct in helicon (I'm using the capture one plugin), I wanted to try with a first processed image in dng (but it stays a raw)

The triangle is a warning, not an error. The stack has been rendered, but Helicon Focus has detected that there's probably something wrong with it. You can read the warning message by hovering the mouse cursor over the triangle (in this case it will be brightness variation).

I don't see anything anything particularly wrong with the resulting image.

Do you mean that adjustments done in Capture One are not applied to the exported DNG images?

Yes Catherine,

exactly
the stacking of dng gives images without setting, and we have to put the setting on the final image.

it could be logical (by capture one) because the setting are a separate file (but even if you are using an eip file by Capture one, which is the original file + setting file "in one" )

best regards :)

Only Capture One can read and apply those settings, there is nothing we can do about it. Exporting to TIFF might apply the changes to the image itself.
