Helicon Remote Android + Nikon D800

Hi,

I've just bought Helicon Focus 8 Premium, in part so that I could use Helicon Remote on Android for stacking with my D800, but am having trouble getting it to work. I'm using a UGreen OTG cable to connect to my phone (a Samsung S24+). I get to the point where I can connect to the camera, use live view to set start and end focus points, but when I then ask Helicon Remote to capture the stack the camera appears to take one photo but then no more. The "stop shooting" option in Helicon Remote doesn't seem to do anything after the stop/continue prompt - the app freezes - at which point I have to turn the camera off to get back control.

I've configured Helicon Remote to leave images on the camera in the settings, and when I go into the camera I can see that it's taken and stored a single photo. The problem seems to be on the Helicon side in advancing to the next focus point and capturing the next one. The same thing happens if I try to capture a single exposure. I've tried switching live view off during capture - I read in another post that this may help but it doesn't for me. The top panel of the camera shows "PC" with a progress bar that runs continuously when this happens.

I've also tried Helicon Remote on Windows to capture a stack, and this works, it's just using the Android app where I have problems.

Any pointers / help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Martin

Hi Martin,

You don't need to turn live view off. Please reproduce the problem and send a bug report (app's menu - Feedback - Report a bug).

Just a quick update to say that I now have this working thanks to the great Helicon technical support (Alex), who, after numerous suggestions finally got to a work-around, which is to use a micro-USB connector cable (at the D800 end). We didn't completely get to the bottom of why the issue was happening (for example, I was able to capture stacks fine using the same cable on an Android tablet that was failing on my S24+), but at least I have a work-around.

Thanks again Alex for the great technical support.
