Helicon Focus 9 maakt grote TIFF-bestanden en ruimt ze niet op (Mac Studio M4 Max) Hallo iedereen, Ik ondervind een probleem met Helicon Focus versie 9.0.02 op mijn Mac Studio M4 Max. Bij het importeren van RAW-bestanden voor focus stacking maakt de software grote hoeveelheden TIFF-bestanden aan in mijn map Documenten. Deze bestanden lijken niet automatisch te worden verwijderd nadat het stapelproces is voltooid. Na slechts een paar stapels raakt mijn schijf volledig vol, waardoor mijn Mac vertraagt en waarschuwingen voor weinig schijfruimte weergeeft. Ik herinner me dit gedrag niet van eerdere versies van Helicon Focus. Mijn vragen: * Is dit een bekend probleem in versie 9.0.02? * Is er een instelling om deze tijdelijke TIFF-bestanden automatisch te verwijderen? * Of is handmatig opruimen nodig? Please send a bug report after this happens: menu - Help - Contact support.

The temporary files are cleaned up automatically, there is also protection against running out of space, and there are no known issues related to this functionality. And they are created in the temporary folder, but it's possible that you reconfigured it in the settings so now it's in Documents.

I have checked the situation more carefully and can confirm that the TIFF files are being created in my Documents folder.
I also noticed that when I completely close Helicon Focus, these TIFF files are automatically removed. So the cleanup does seem to work, but only after closing the application.
In practice, however, this is quite inconvenient. When working with many or large stacks, the files accumulate quickly and fill up disk space during use. This means I have to regularly close and restart the software to free up space, which interrupts my workflow.
At the moment, I have not yet been able to include a bug report, as I have not recently processed a large number of stacks where the issue clearly occurs. As soon as it happens again, I will send a bug report via the Help menu.
Could you please confirm whether this behavior is expected? Ideally, temporary files should be cleaned up after each completed stack, without needing to restart the application.

This is the intended and correct behavior, removing the files immediately would defeat the purpose. But it shouldn't be causing you any issues, and you said you had no problems in Helicon Focus 8 which works exactly the same way. Did you actually run out of space on the disk completely, or were you simply alarmed by the free space going lower and lower? It will stop at 5 GB and keep 5 GB free for your other tasks.
If you actually run out of space, please send a bug report after it happens (menu - Help - Contact support).

Does the RAW-in-DNG-out process work in the same way? When are the temporary DNG files prepared in Lightroom deleted after they have been used in Helicon for stacking. Are they temporarily held in RAM? Or written to a scratch file? Where? I have numerous disk drives.

Files created by Lightroom are handled by Lightroom and typically deleted when the export process finishes (when Helicon Focus exits). We have no control over them or their location.
