I used a 100mm/2.8 lens, f11, around 30 images, method B, radius 8, smoothing 4.

Any advice?

Halo is cause by the difference in brightness of the source images. I would suggest to use manual exposure and enable Autoadjustment of brightness in Helicon Focus preferences.
