stepper motor control

Dear Stas,

I have a stepper motor controlled by the small brother of your system the TMC223 instead of TMC246/428. This spepper controller is connected to my PC via the I2C-USB-interface instead of RS232. But this should be the same like your testes system because TMC223 is also controlled by the Trinamic Motion Control Language and the I2C-USB-interface is also providing a COM-port on my computere like RS232 is doing it. There are also a version of your used Trinamic PANDrive with I2C-port instead an RS232-port.

Now: How can I tell Helicon Remote there is a stepper motor on a certain COM-port? The software is only able to control the DSLR (Canon 1000D). There is not appearing any menu for stepper motors.

Best wishes, Hans

Hans,

We are looking for motor in USB devices. You will need a USB-COM convertion cable to make the program work. Make sure that this converter is based on FTDI chip (90% of all converters). Please let us know about your progress.

Dear Stas,

the stepper controler is connected to the computer by an USB-cabel (!) but Windows is automaticly providing this USB-Connection as a Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COMx).

I use this stepper controler and adapter:

Thanks for this link. We would like to order this set to make experiments. It looks like the USB adapter is different so we need to change our program a bit. What should we order to have working kit? Motor, connector, power supply?
