speeding up shots on Android Remote

I was wondering if anyone had had any speed issues while using their Nikon cameras and the HDR function of HR (android).
I've had some luck speeding up shots by decreasing the file size and not using RAW, but that's not optimal. Some of my other thoughts were:
1. Wishing there was an option in Helicon Remote to leave the pictures on the camera. There isn't, is there?
2. Shooting with Mirror up? Seems to work hit-and-miss on my Nikon D7000.
Any ideas?
