Razr Maxx(not HD) doesn't recognize Canon 7D

I used USB 2.0A female to Micro 5pin male adapter to connect 7D to my phone and ran Helicon Remote, then I turned on 7D. But Canon 7D didn't show up on Helicon Remote(v 2.6.1) home screen. Razr Maxx runs on ICS and 7D has been updated to the latest firmware.
Is there any issue with this configuration?

Your adapter might not be of OTG kind.
Also, there's an issue with connecting USB devices to most Motorola phones. usually a Y-cable is required to supply power (from computer, for example):

However, further search turned out this, so maybe the issue was addressed in Maxx:

Bottomline: we don't really know if a) Maxx has normal powered USB port that doesn't require external power source, b) if it does, whether or not your cable is correct and c) do you need some special Motorola cable or just regular OTG.
