Auto detect too aggressive

Post by Guest »

I very much like the noise reduction I get from helicon. One suggestion might be to lower the autodetect values. I find that they are too aggressive and I almost always need to lower the values.

The mid tone values are the ones that I usually need to lower the most

It does automatically go to aggressive instead of regular.

I've been thinking about it, and it seems that sometimes the noise reduction, if set to really high values in the "standard method", make the image kind of appear to be a sketch. I'm worried that if I apply a small amount of noise reduction, this sketchy look will show up if you look closely.

The sliders do not have linear effect. It is rather a threshold. All above this threshold is kept intact, all under threshold is considered to be noise.
