HeliconRemote Mobile App Suggestion

Hello,
Wasn't sure where to place this so I'll place it here.
I've been reading other threads regarding everyones suggestions or concepts for a mobile app and haven't seen this one yet.
All of the suggestions require either an adapter to the camera, or the mobile device to have USB to Camera capabilities.
All of these are fine, but why not just make it universally capable by requiring only a USB from a PC or Mac that contains the HeliconRemote software and is already connected to it with it's pre-existing API. You could expose a RESTful api from the HOST computer running the Remote software and the mobile Apps would simply do RESTful HTTP requests to the HOST computer to perform setting changes.
The HOST could also stream the LiveView to the mobile device with existing iOS / Android API's as well.
Tap to autofocus, etc.
This would be a universal way of performing changes...
Another way would simply be to expose a mobile web app that does the same damn thing.
Seems to me that it would be simple for someone to bring a MacBook or PC Notebook around or even a cheapo netbook just to act as a HOST computer for the USB connection.
I think your development time would be a lot less to accomplish a universal API that all of your mobile apps can easily adapt to.
Let me know if I'm completely off base but I don't believe I am...
