HI all sorry I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but my flash isn't getting triggered when using Helicon Remote (ver3.3.7m) either on the hot shoe or wired into the side of the camera (using Pocket wizard)

I have not used helicon much and have had this problem in the past thought i managed to fix the problem, can't remember how?
Tried disabling live view (Prefs/Shooting/Canon/ Keep LCD on during live view

Canon 5d mk iii
Pocket wizzard
OSX 10.9.3

any ideas?

Disabling live view is the right idea, but you've changed the wrong preference for it. What you need is to go to Preferences -> Shooting and set "Activate live view when taking a shot" to "No".
