maybe i should be more specific. i have a lot of flat artwork to photograph. i have set up a table and top lighting, and would like to position the camera on a bracket above the work, then photograph each piece without having to look through the viewfinder each time. am thinking that remote would be best, because i can preview on screen, shot the work, then quickly move on to the next.
thinking that a canon 40d with the kit lens would probably work fine. has anyone used HR for this kind of work?
thanks

Hello,
I am about to acquire the new D750 from Nikon, will there be an update to support this model?
Do you know when?
And if so, will there be Wi-Fi support?

Thank you very much in advance for your response

We've already added preliminary support. It may or may not be good enough. As always with new Nikon cameras, the worst case scenario is we'll have to wait for 1-2 months before it will be fully supported.
Wi-Fi will most likely be supported.

Ok.
I should be in possession of my new camera in a few days now, maybe a week.
I could do testing and bug reporting if you need.
I will be able to try it on PC, android (4.3) and iOS (from Ipad on iOS 7.2)

Just another precision, in the case of Wi-fi support, you might know that nikon application allows only shutter control and live view, they do not support changing shutter speed or aperture. Will Helicon remote be able to do this?

Please do test it when you can.

There's probably a good reason Nikon app dpesn't give you full control, so it's quite likely Helicon Remote will have exactly the same capabilities. But on the other hand, I don't see why all the Wu-1 compatible cameras don't have such a limitation, and D750 suddently would. So we'll see.

That is what I was afraid of.

From my guessing I would say that full API (with aperture and shutter speed monitoring) is only exposed through USB interface.

As WU-1 is connected on USB port of the camera I guess its role is only to be a proxy...

What is Helicon remote capable of with nikon D5300 (or either D5200?) which has "native" wi-fi (does not need WU-1) ? Can you control aperture or shutter speed?

Only D5300 has a built-in Wi-Fi, and I can't recall anyone's feedback on its operation one way or the other, so I really can't say.

Ok, so I just received my d750, (so happy!) but I think that I would need some help for making HR working. I open a new topic.

I don't know the answer to your question because we don't have a 810. One thing to note is that Helicon Remote requires live view to be active when a shot is taken, and live view means is effectively the same thing as mirror lock-up. However, I've read the Nikon's "Using the Electronic Front-Curtain Shutter" manual (http://nps.nikonimaging.com/technical_s ... nic_front/), and it seems that firmware might not activate the EFCS if the camera is not switched to Mup, which we don't support. So it's quite possible that EFCS can't be used with Helicon Remote right now.
It also seems that it might be possible for us to support Mup mode for D800 and similar cameras where this mode is selected with the shooting mode selector wheel. I'll look into it.

Hello

I have a Nikon D810 and am getting a camera not supported message when running Helicon Remote. Could someone please tell me when it might be a supported camera.

Many thanks, Alan.

You must be using an old version of the program, install the latest one: http://www.heliconsoft.com/software-downloads/

Stas, your list of supported cameras does not include the Nikon d610, maybe because it is very similar to the d600, but it works fine.
I have been using Remote successfully with the d610 since April on Android & Windows. I had an Asus TF101 (v4.0.3), I now have the Samsung Tab S 8.4" (v4.4.2) and both are fine over wifi (WU1b).
With the Tab S I can never get Remote to connect on the first attempt ("Error - A network device....is not found....") but then it connects ok when I retry. Not a real problem but I wonder why?
I have ordered an otg cable to test but I can't see any advantage in tethering - is there one?

Thanks Stas, I downloaded from your site just a few days ago to my Tab S and it is v3.4.12 ( I am a licensed user) so I hope this is the latest.
