Using a hot shoe and strobes

I currently have a hot shoe on my Canon 7D to capture images using strobes.
The software does not activate the strobes when photostacking through it.
Any suggestions on how I can get everything to work properly would be greatly appreciated.
* I also tested everything to make sure it's not a hardware problem*
