Stackshot and Helicon Remote Trial doesn't work

Hello,

today I got my Cognisys Stackshot and now I try to make first images.
I will have to buy one program for focus stacking and so I installed trial versions of Helicon Focus and Zerene Stacker. Using Stackshot, it is of course of interest to control it via the computer. Both Helicon Focus and Zerene Stacker have this feature. However, when I tried to control Stackshot by Helicon Remote (installed with the trial version of Helcion Focus), it doesn't work. Stackshot is connected with the computer by the USB cable and the Stackshot screen shows, that is handled by USB control. In Helicon remote I can't make anything to get Stackshot started.
In preferences under Stackshot I allowed to use the unit without camera (as I use an Olympus E-30 camera which is not supported by Helicon).
Most options in the menu are grey (e.g. all options in the menu "Tools". In the right side of Helicon remote there are camera settings, histogram, focus bracketing and so on. All letters are in grey and I can not change or select any option there.
As my camera Olympus E-30 can not be controlled remotely (by Helicon Focus) the camera settings etc. of course can't be selected. But it should be possible to control Stackshot, or not?
But why I can't control Stackshot by Helicon Remote now? Is it so, because I use a trial version of Helicon Focus??
I can control and run Stackshot with Zerene Stacker (trial version), so the cables and connections are all okay.
I have to buy one of the programs (Helicon or Zerene) after thee trial period will have ended. I would prefer Helicon, but not, if I can't run Stackshot.
Any advice?

Hi, I have also just received a Stackshot and am having problems with Helicon remote
Both the supplied demo and the latest beta 2.3.14.w
The software doesn't communicate with the camera at all
The initial software said No Camera Attached
The current Beta doesn't even say that
I am using a Canon 7D
Windows 7 64bit

Any clues as to how to get liveview on my screen?

Stackshot say USB control

It works with "other" software but doesn't use liveview (an attractive feature)

I have found the cause of the problem. Helicon doesn't like it if the stackshot cable is connected before Helicon "discovers" the camera.
The USB cable needs to be connected before the stackshot cable and it is fine.
Not intuitive, but might help someone in the future.

I am having similar problems with my new StackShot and a Mac-based Helicon Remote, version 2.3.14.m beta. The StackShot panel says it is under USB control, but Remote doesn't seem to recognize it. I put Remote on StackShot in preferences, and everything is greyed out. Also, no LiveView, which kind of negates a big reason to use Remote.

It would be helpful to put together a tutorial on how to set up and use Remote with StackShot, it could be that I am doing something wrong.

Right now, I am just using Remote with my 5DMkII, and it is working great with some nice results, so I am starting to question why I just bought the StackShot.

You are using old version of Helicon Remote and hopefully this bug have been already fixed. Please download the latest version from our site:

I also have the same problem. 5DMII / newest version of software / Official Helicon SW / MAC.
Remote doesn't work in combination with StackShot. Who has the solution?

Please send a bug report from within Remote (Help -> Report a bug) after connecting the camera and Stackshot.
