Ergonomics - phone v. tablet

Post by V64 »

Reading this forum I see that HRemote now works on Smartphones under Android 4+.

I have just tried HR (Focus Stacking) on a Nexus7 and D700, but I found it difficult to set focus points or to focus visually.

It was difficult to set a Focus point using my finger (which is large).

And I was reduced to setting A using auto focus and B "to infinity" (which is probably OK for landscape focus stacks). When Stepping focus back from infinity it was very difficult to see where the focus point was, or even if it had moved. When I used it it all worked fine.

My conclusion was that I would probably need a bigger screen, although I would prefer to get a SmartPhone (for portability). But if a Nexus screen is too small for me where would that leave me with a Smartphone?

I would be interested in readers experiences using Note/S3/S2 phones as well the larger 9/10 inch tablets.

I am reluctant to go with a standard Windows Laptop (for portability and usage reasons) for use in the Field (any comments?).

Thank-you in advance for any comments readers may have.

Have you tried enabling focused areas higlighting? It might remove the need for thoroughly inspecting the picture altogether.
