D600 Live view not à 100 %, no DOF preview

Post by D600vince »

Hi,

It seems to me that in live view you can only "zoom" once to mangify the display. One tap and it zooms in, but another tap and it zooms back. The problem is that when it's zoomed in, it's not at 100%. Live view zooming on the D600 screen magnifies much more.

Any hope to have 100% live view ?

Also, I've noted that I can't check the DOF preview.

Can both of those features be added/corrected or is it a D600 limitations :(

Thanks.

P.S : Tablet used is Nexus 7

Hello,

DOF preview is Canon only.
Try pinch gesture to zoom live view.

I did try the pinch but unfortunately it doesn't zoom more. There's only one step zoom.
If I use the peview button, then I can pinch zoom a lot to 100%, much farther than in live view

You are right, pinching will allow deep zooming. But here's the catch, it's very slow, so if you pinch at normal speed like we're accustomed too, it will only register one tap, and hence go one level deep.

To make it work you have to keep your finger extended for a long time to almost both ends of the screen. I do it with both hands on my nexus 7" tablet.

Is that the fault of the nexus 7" speed ?

Anyway, zooming butons would be much more speedy, and would allow more precise magnification levels settings, and makes the experience smoother because the user would know the software registereed his command, and will just wait for it to happen.

I'm pretty sure you don't need two hands to do it, just move slowly and don't take your fingers off the screen untill it actually switches zoom level. It's because of delay in processing zoom command by the camera, has nothing to do with the tablet's speed.

We'll see why it doesn't zoom in to max level on tap (which it should do).

Yes, but two hands was more practical to me.

I'd still love +- zooming button and direct access to zoomed mode like in lightroom Fit to screen / 1:1 / 2:1 / 3:1

Having a bit more tried it, single tap does actually zoom to 100%

What's annoying an slow is that wham you want to go past 100%. You've to slowly pinch out. If we'd have 200% / 300% / 400% buttons (or a big + one that would zoom more) it would be faster.

Also, I'd love scroll bars, or left right up down arrows. Because now you've to drag the view, and often you zoom in or out by mistake. So those navigating arrows would be much faster to operate
