HF "temp-Tiff" files accumulation size

Post by edokie »

"Temp-Tiff" files created when Exporting files from LightRoom 4.3 direct to Helicon Focus... works well, but the exported Tiff files end up saved permanently in the "Temp" directory - files that can't be cleared/cleaned out by normal means of "deleting all 'temp' files" through the Windows temp-deleting process because these Folders do not have a "tmp" designation.

Saving files is a worthy method if re-processing is desired; downside: the multiple folders contain huge Tiff files... and an appreciable amount of hard drive space is consumed - and it's otherwise never recognized. Folders in this "Temp" area are labeled: "temp_lre_focus-112908304" (each folder with different numbers at the end)

If hard drive disk space is mysteriously disappearing - this is one place to examine.
The full descriptive location: Computer\ C: \ Users \ [my name] \ AppData \ Local \ Temp \ [a list of many other files PLUS the above leftover Tiff folders]

An aside: Using Lightroom's direct-to-Helicon Focus Export feature - there is NO choice of file-type-extension (as there is under LR's normal Export method), i.e., all files going direct to HF are 16-bit high-resolution files and they are of substantial size. The user assumes that since they're under the "Temp" folder that deleting all "tmp" files are cleaned out; in the case of HF they are not. I am using the latest edition of HF, 5.3

I would be remiss if not once again saying: HF is a truly remarkable and very noteworthy program for composting multiple focus-files images. Ease of use and especially speed of operation. (Wish I could say the same about Adobe LR's miserable speed problems). To the HF crew - Job Well Done!

Thanks for this report! Actually Helicon Focus should clear this temp folder on exit, we will check if this feature functions properly.
