5.3.7.2 x64: Strange error about image size!

Post by XFer »

Hello,
during the processing of a stack of 5 images, sometimes HF gives a very strange error:

'The dimensions of the first and current "myimagename.tif" are not equal'

Which does not make any sense, since the images are absolutely identical in size (the only difference is the focus point).

What can I do?

Thanks!

Please upload your stack to our server for tests as described at http://www.heliconsoft.com/ftp.html

I've reproduced the issue, and have verified that, indeed, one of the image is 1 pixel shorter.
That is, 7648 x 5142 instead of 7649 x 5142.

Now: Formally HeliconFocus is right, one of the images of the stack is not identical in size.

But, it's only 1 pixel out of 7648! It's like, 0.01% of the size! :(

Since they are film scans, it's not so easy to have exactly the same size down to the last pixel.

Is it possible to introduce a bit of tolerance? Expecially since HF already has adjustable tolerances for rotation, magnification, etc. (which have no effect on this specific problem, by the way).

Thanks,

Fernando

We will think about making Helicon Focus more tolerant to such errors. The downside of it is that some errors will be hidden from the user. In the meantime I recommend you to crop all source images with the same parameters to ensure equal size.
