H. remote free is slow, is it faster with full version?

Post by STemple »

Hi, I am using Helicon Remote free trial version with my Nikon D300 on my Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.

It works beautifully, but it is very slow when taking multiple shots in a stack. Is this because with the free trial version you can only save images to the android device and not the camera''s card?

I don't want to buy the software only to find out that it is still slow when saving stacks of RAW images to my camera's card.

Can anyone comment on their experience with the full version of Helicon remote for android?

Thank you

I think it should be possible to simply leave the images on the camera card.

Check out
[Menu Button]
[Settings]
[Image Saving] scroll down to
[Download RAW ...],
[Download JPEG ...], and
[Download movies ...];
Select "leave in camera".

I think that should do it, but I don't know how much difference it will make in processing.
(I'm still using the free version.)

There's no performance difference between the free and registered version. The only difference is RAW shooting. Pulling images to computer/tablet/phone is about as fast as saving to memory card. If you have high speed memory card then saving to it will be faster, but it's fractions of seconds we're talking about, hardly even a whole second.
That said, D300 can't save to memory card, only Nikon D5100 and up can.
Could you please try a desktop (Win/Mac) version of Remote and see if its performance is the same? I. e. is Android version slow on your devices, or is Remote slow by your standards in general.
