Project saving feature requests

Post by clausgiloi »

I'd like to use the project saving feature, but it currently gives me a message saying that it won't work on projects where the output image has been re-touched with other output images. That pretty much applies to all of my finished images, as I retouch B from C pretty much every time, limiting the usefulness of this feature. Perhaps this restriction can be removed in a future version?

While on the subject of project saving, what would be incredibly useful if, at least optionally, the saved project would include the (compressed?) set of input files rather than a reference to their location (not entirely sure how it works now as I have not been able to use it).

Since I stack thousands of images in dozens of stacks off the memory card at a time using batch mode and then cull a majority of the output files, it would be amazing to be able to bundle and save the few selected stacks where I want to preserve the source images without manually copying them off the card for saving.

Thanks!

That would require completely reworking the projects system, it would have to save everything from your session (all stacks) rather than just the one selected stack. Currently projects work on a per-stack basis. We'll add it to the to-do list, but we won't be able to work on it any time soon.

As for bundling the source files - yes, that should be pretty easy to implement.

Is it currently possible to export an output file and add it to the input file list of another stack? This would cause problems re-rendering of course. I initially thought this would be the only way to retouch one output file from another until I discovered the dropdown list under the input file list control.

If so, could this not be done under the covers, so to speak, so that whenever you retouch an output image with another, that output image is added (or copied) to a list associated with the retouched stack and becomes part of that data set?

Thanks,

Claus

It's not as simple as that, the stack has to be rendered for its output to be usable for retouching, it's not a matter of just having the final image.
