Wifi remote connection on EOS R6MII

Post by soulraver77 »

I can't connect my Canon EOS R6 Mark II with Helicon Remote on my Desktop PC. System is Win 11. At the firewall, the connection is allowed.
EOS Utility, Helicon Remote mobile, Helicon Remote with cable connection, works fine.
Any ideas?

It can be problematic if your PC has more than one active network interface, e. g. Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet.
Did you connect your PC directly to the camera's Wi-Fi hotspot?

It works when I directly connect the PC to the camera's Wi-Fi hotspot.
I thought it works too when the camera an the PC are connected to the home wifi, like EOS Utility too.

If that is the only option -> Thanks a lot

It will work that way, but automatic camera detection won't. You have to go to the Helicon Remote menu - Tools - Network cameras - Add, and create the entry with your camera's IP address. Only the address and the camera type are important, the name is just what it will be listed as in the "Select a camera" dialog. Once the entry is added, click "Select a camera" and single-click this new entry to connect.

It worked only one time yesterday, when I directly connect the PC to the camera's Wi-Fi hotspot!
When I add the camera via network cameras it seems to work stably.

Thank You

With direct connection it's not required and automatic camera detection will work, as well as automatic connection. But with a connection through your existing Wi-Fi network you have to point Helicon Remote to the camera's IP address, and there is no automatic connection to the manually added cameras, which is why you have to click "Select the camera" and click your camera to connect.

If it doesn't work, send a bug report after an unsuccessful attempt (menu - Help - Report a bug).
